The Santa Marta Cathedral it’s one of the architectural landmarks of the city. Its construction began in 1765, the first basilica built in Latin America. Inside, according to legend, somewhere in its building is hidden a small urn containing Simon Bolivar’s heart and entrails, whose remains housed between 1830 and 1842 before moving to his native Caracas. Since 1953, transferred from the Dominican Republic, there are the remains of Rodrigo de Bastidas, city founder.

The walk along this corridor bordering the sea has on one side El Morro that rises in the middle of the blue sea and the other restaurants, craft shops and Grooms Park . Formerly called Parque Santander, its construction have made over the bed of a dry lake, there the first market was today one of the sites representing the nightlife of the city, where they meet locals and visitors for romantic dating.
